There are many Web 2.0 tools available. The trick is to find the right tools that work in your classroom. Good teaching always trumps tools. But the right tools help you achieve your goals. Just like a master carpenter with a toolbox full of tools. Not every tool is right for every job. How can this tool help students be successful?

Parent Communication and participation is an important piece of a child’s educational puzzle. They need to know and most want to know, what is happening in class. Oh how times have changed. I remember team meetings 25 years ago where we literally cut & pasted our newsletters together. Then we ran to the thermo machine to make a master, so could turn ourselves purple. Wow! Were we ever glad for high speed copiers! Now, enter in eNews from your Classroom…

On one of my Twitter resources , I found this statement, “I have found more resources and got more useful advice for professional development in 3 months on Twitter than in the previous 5 years without it. I’ll go further. The more I use it, the more useful it gets.” My sentiments exactly.

We all want to take our students to the next level. We are fortunate to have so many tools at our fingertips to help our students be successful and reach that next level.  We have ideas. We see things. And then we say, “I wish I could…”  What do you wish? What would you like to do with your students? What is something new you have seen you think you want to integrate?

As citizens of the United States of America, we have many reasons to be proud. The Constitution of the United States gives us many freedoms and rights. Specifically, the constitution established three branches of government: legislative, judicial, and executive.  Pick one branch of our national government. Tell how that branch functions.  What would happen if we did not have that branch of the government?  

         


Butterflies in the Garden

Chrysalis are collected world-wide, packed carefully and shipped to butterfly exhibits, like the one in Fort Worth we visited today.
Imagine that you are a butterfly that has just emerged!  You are new in the Fort Worth exhibit. Describe your surroundings.  What do you see and smell?  What are the other butterflies doing? What will you do and why?  Are you able to leave?  Remember, you are writing from the perspective of the butterfly!

The Irving ISD Technology and Media Fair is just around the corner.  This year’s event promises to bigger and better than ever with YOUR entry. You may enter as an individual or as a group. You may enter as many categories as you wish. Enter each category! Got a question about the rules/requirements? Ms. Dobbs or Mrs. Smyers can answer your questions as well as can your teacher. Friday, December 4th, your entries are due! We can’t wait to see your creativity! Make this an iFair to Remember!
